The University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna (Vetmeduni) is the only veterinary, academic educational and research facility in Austria and at the same time the oldest in the German-speaking area - founded in 1765 by Empress Maria Theresia.

At the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna, topics that are important for society are researched. Her focus is on animal health as well as preventive veterinary medicine, public health and food safety. The research interests include the creation of a scientific basis for the well-being of animals, issues of animal husbandry, animal welfare and animal ethics.
Vetmeduni employs around 1,500 people and is currently training around 2,500 students. The campus in Vienna Floridsdorf has five university clinics and the most modern research infrastructure. Two research institutes on Wilhelminenberg in Vienna, the VetFarm and the Wolf Science Center in Lower Austria are also part of it.
